HOW DID THE CHURCH BEGIN?
In October of 2003, under the ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Newington, Connecticut, a Bible study began in Chester with the prayer that a Baptist church would one day be established. Several individuals and families from Chester, Huntington, and Blandford have been blessed with Biblical teaching and with godly fellowship as a result of this weekly Bible study. In June of 2004, the members of the Bible study voted to proceed with the establishment of Chester Baptist Church; and the Herr family immediately began making preparations to plant an independent Baptist church in Chester.

WHY START A CHURCH IN THE TOWN OF CHESTER?

Several individuals in the Chester area had been praying for years that a Baptist church would one day be raised up to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ throughout the hill town communities. Located centrally between Westfield and Lee, Chester Baptist Church provides residents in Chester and in the surrounding area a great opportunity for Christ-centered, Biblically based, family-oriented worship and service.
